3A- My Entrepreneur Story 

     I would say that my personal entrepreneur story is a very common one amongst teenage boys. My experience being an entrepreneur began with lawn care. Around my freshman year of high school I started to think of ways to get a little bit of spending money. The problem was that many jobs around required applicants to be sixteen years or age or older and I was only fifteen at the time. This meant I had to think of unordinary ways to make some cash. I started asking people on my street if I could cut their lawns. Due to the fact that there was a personal connection to me and I was probably charging way less than established companies I was able to gain five customers on my street. This was great because I didn't have to have my parents drive anywhere, instead I could just push my mower down the street to the different houses. This lawn care and entrepreneur experience lasted for about two whole years until I decided that I no longer wanted to do it anymore because I was so busy with other interests. This experience allowed me to solve my problem of needing spending money, but it also taught me a multitude of things that have helped me in different jobs since.


     In this class I hope to learn more about the problem solving mindset of entrepreneurs and develop my skills through the workshop and weekly assignments. I enrolled in this class because it is required to graduate, however I was excited to start this class because having the opportunity to learn more about entrepreneurship will be interesting to me in the short-term and extremely beneficial for me in the long-term. I cannot wait to get started!

    I think your lawn story is, although similar to others, unique in it's own way. I think being able to assert confidence in asking your neighbors for their business is a great quality to have for an entrepreneur, especially at a young age. This quality will help you establish connections and make your voice heard to get investors to get you money. Have you ever seen the difference between Steve Jobs' and Mark Zuckerberg's presentations? You can see a major difference between the two and it is very important.

    It's great to see someone else experienced with lawn work in the class. Outdoor labor is tough but nobody wants to do it! So when you're willing to do it, the money comes flowing. Taking advantage of your lower upkeep costs and personal relationship with your neighbors is a great example of undercutting the competition to get into the local lawn care market.

  3. Hey Kyle, This post is very interesting to me because I too do landscaping. It is a great way to make money, and I feel it is an extremely rewarding thing to do. As for your post, I am very impressed with how you answered the question. You did everything you needed to do for it and more. I have nothing to complain about with this post. Great Work.

  4. Hey Kyle, This post about your entrepreneur story was very relatable because I as well ran my own landscaping company too. I was also that guy walking down the road with a push mower too just looking to make a little side money. Doing this growing up was rewarding when you were done with a day of work and seeing how all the hard work payed off. Having these skills at a young age will help in the real world.

  5. Hey Kyle, your lawn business sounds great! I agree, that it can be very rewarding to make personal connections through work through establishing a business that can help others. I found that with my entrepreneurship story as well, that managing money and developing skills was a big part of it. I too am also excited to learn how this class can propel my future.
